To celebrate World Music Day, the French-Croatian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the French Alliance Zagreb and the Youth Center Ribnjak, organized an event titled "Pique-nique/Fête de la musique." This event took place on June 20th in the beautiful Ribnjak Park, starting at 6:00 PM, bringing together French and Croatian cultures through music, sports activities, and creative workshops.
World Music Day, which was first celebrated in France in 1982, served as an inspiration for this event, as well as an opportunity to collectively mark the end of the school year and the beginning of summer in a creative and outdoor setting.
Music, of course, took center stage, with performances by amateur musicians, school bands, and the El Sistema children's and youth symphony orchestra conducted by Ricardo Luque. Multi-instrumentalist Lana Škrgatić, accompanied by her colleagues, set the mood with renditions of French classics, and the evening culminated with a performance by the regional francophone band, Jall aux yeux, which showcased their original musical compositions.
In addition to the musical experience, this event offered various activities that attracted participants of all ages. Ribnjak Park hosted different workshops, allowing visitors to explore the Natural History Museum through interactive games and creative activities in the "Museum on the Grass." There were also workshops conducted in French, a dance workshop, and a painting workshop, providing diverse opportunities for learning and enjoyment.
For those inclined toward sports, we prepared and provided equipment for various activities. Visitors had the chance to engage in balloon and parachute games, play badminton, try their hand at archery, soccer, and volleyball.
This event also had a charitable dimension. Donations were collected during Pique-nique/Fête de la musique, intended for the acquisition of interactive equipment to enhance the French Alliance's classroom in Zagreb. This initiative aims to improve the experience of teachers and students by facilitating the delivery, participation, and tracking of educational programs.
We would like to express our special thanks to our members and friends whose participation was crucial for the successful realization of this project, including Bina-Istra, Decathlon, Air France, Dukat, L'Oréal Adria, Profil Klett, Coface, and Publicis Groupe.
