In collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, Pension System, Family, and Social Policy, we organized a seminar on Labor Law - the Latest Amendments and their Practical Application, which took place at the Esplanade Hotel.
On behalf of the Ministry, the lectures were conducted by Mr. Dražen Opalić, Assistant Minister and the Directorate - General for Labour and Safety at Work and Mrs. Josipa Klišanin, Head of the Sector for Labour Relations
One of the central themes of the seminar was the definition of wages according to the Labor Law. Participants discussed the difference between the basic and contracted salary, as well as allowances and other income that can be considered when determining the salary amount. Special attention was paid to distinguishing non-taxable benefits from expense reimbursements, with the conditions that must be met for a non-taxable benefit to be considered as part of the salary. As of October 1, 2023, changes in the format and content of payroll statements came into effect. Seminar participants gained insights into the essential aspects of these changes.
During the seminar, participants had the opportunity to receive advice from experts and acquaint themselves with practical examples, including how to fill out forms IP1 and NP1 related to salary payments, sick leave compensation at the expense of the employer, and compensation for unused annual leave. Additionally, discussions focused on salary payment deadlines and the obligation to create payroll statements for each payment.
In conclusion, the seminar proved to be a valuable tool for all participants in gaining a better understanding of the increasingly complex legal framework in the field of labor relations and payments.
